Youngmin Lee: Bojagi, the Art of Wrapping Cloths

Youngmin Lee: Mosi jogakbo Bojagi

This event takes place on 9th October 2021 from 4:30pm to 5:30pm and will take place at Online via Zoom. It is a Guild event being organised by Pauline Pitman, .

Originally from Seoul, South Korea, textile artist Youngmin Lee now lives in California where she continues to maintain ties with her heritage and culture through making, teaching and lecturing about her love of Bojagi.

Bojagi were used to wrap, cover and store everyday items as well as being used on special occasions or in religious rituals.  Patchwork Bojagi, Jogakbo, embodies the philosophy of recycling, the cloths being made from remnants of leftover fabric.

With degrees in textiles and fashion and having worked as a fashion designer, Youngmin now takes much of her inspiration from nature and has a great appreciation for the beauty of the slow hand-stitching process.

Join us for this fascinating trip into traditional Korean textiles and a look at Youngmin’s own interpretations of Bojagi and beyond.

Guild members £7.00    Non-members £10.00
